Race and Ethnicity Form
Dear Springwoods Parent/Guardian:
Your child was recently given a form for you to fill out and return that asks for your child’s race and ethnicity. The collection of this information is mandated by the federal government, which has revised the criteria of these data. A letter of explanation was included with the form but more information can be found on the PWCS Web site at: http://www.pwcs.edu/news2/announcements/351-federalethnicityreporting.html.
Please complete parts A and B of the form, sign and date it at the bottom, and return it to your homeroom class by Friday, March 19th.
As called for in the new federal requirements, if the forms are not completed by parents/guardians, then a staff member will observe and select racial and ethnic categories on the student’s behalf. These data are being collected for students in grades PK-8 right away, since we will begin scheduling elementary and middle school students for the 2010-11 school year in April.

Kindergarten Registrations Dates
Kindergarten Registration has been set for April 14 from 9:30 AM-2:30 PM and April 28 from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM.
Items to bring with you:
* Three Proofs of Residence (deed, utility bills, car registration or tax bill)
* Original Birth Certificate
* Social Security Card
* School Physical (only if you have it completed)

“Starry Night Take 2”
Exploring a variety of different art media, second and third grade students in the Art Club at Springwoods Elementary
created sophisticated print images. Marbled paper provided a swirling background for additive printing resulting in lines and textures similar to VanGogh’s “Starry Night.” The students improved their skills as artists as they worked with shaving cream, paint, and printmaking materials. They also gained art knowledge as they learned about Vincent VanGogh. “I tried to do my lines and textures heavy like Van Gogh,” said one student.Stars and Stripes Bank
