Collage of teachers holding signs

Announcement:

Dear Second Graders,

I miss all of you so, so much and wish I could be with you in our classroom. BUT we are not going to let this keep us from growing our brains because we are RESILIENT! Take this time to give your family (both furry and non-furry members) extra hugs and kisses! Also, show off what you know and teach your parents all that we've learned so far. Feel free to write me letters and/or emails (with parent permission)! You can send me a picture of your letter and I will be sure to write you back! :)

Parents, you will find all of the resources that I have shared with you (both websites and documents) and more under the "useful links" and "documents" tab on the left. You will also find our second grade learning calendar that will give you an overview of content for the remainder of the year. I will continue to stay in contact with you via email and update you when I have added more resources to the folders.

This is a learning curve for all of us but we will get through it together! Anything that I can do to help support your child's learning at home, please reach out to me and let me know. Also, if you need help finding something and/or navigating my web page, I am happy to help with that as well!

With lots and lots of love, stay well!

From Ms. Newman:

Ms. Bacchus and I miss you all! During this time away from school we will be posting information here for all students. Please check out the ESOL page for more resources - these are great resources for all students, including our English Language Learners. Take care and stay safe.

Welcome!

My name is Jessica Bacchus and this is my second year at Springwoods Elementary. I couldn't be more thrilled to be a part of such a connected and supportive community like SPES. I am originally from Brooklyn, NY but moved to the Lake Ridge area in my early elementary years. I received my Master's in Early Childhood Education from George Mason University.

In my free time I love to read or listen to music, spend time with family and friends, and hang with my 4 barking fur babies.

I have been working with children for over 10 years. My experience ranges from daycare, to preschool, preschool special education, and second grade. My passion to lift and encourage young vulnerable minds is what drives my teaching. I strive to develop a growth mindset in all students and assist in identifying each individual's unique gifts.

I look forward to building relationships with you and your student(s) this school year. I know this journey will be magnificent :)
